We are starting our journey to our biggest fundraiser of the year - FUN RUN at Purefoy Nation! We are excited to have Ninja Nation set up obstacles for our students to enjoy on November 1st.
Many of you may know that we have been navigating the process to provide improvements to our field since early 2019. Last spring, our school received an initial bid far higher than the original estimate and well outside our budget. Here is where we stand today:
The Spring 2019 local election passed a bond and, with that, FISD will be replacing all elementary school's playground wood mulch with a softer surface. Purefoy's playground is slated to be updated in early Spring 2020. The new company sourced by FISD to do these modifications has agreed to meet with Purefoy and a handful of other FISD elementary schools looking to increase the size of turf on their fields. Initial conversations with the new vendor are very positive and we are hopeful we will be able to move forward with field improvements with them. Please note, the playground modifications take precedence over our field improvements.
From a budgeting perspective, we cannot promise to turf the entire field. Our initial goal is to widen the turf area from the fence to the brick wall. We plan to continue to raise funds to support this project to completion. The reality is that these larger capital campaigns can take multiple years to fully fund as it did with the playground canopy. In the meantime, your PTA board and Purefoy staff are working closely together to provide items to improve active play both at recess and brain breaks, support teacher grants, provide quality educational programs and family events, as well as, future field improvement needs.
The Fall is always a busy season, but with your support, it will be a successful one!
