Advocacy in Austin:

Additional funding for pre-k -- Campuses will maintain a supply epinephrine auto injectors on campus -- E-cigarette sales banned to anyone under 18 -- ISDs are required to prohibit use of e-cigarettes on campus and at all school events off -- campus campuses can implement local free & reduced breakfast program as an alternative to the national program -- Kept 1.5 credits of physical education & .5 credit of health for graduation -- Truancy decriminalized -- $1.5 billion boost to education funding -- Average daily attendance calculated to include students on a flexible school day program which allows school to implement or expand internships, dual enrollment and outside work -- Funding for professional development opportunities for school counselors to help students make decisions about middle and high school coursework -- A writing assessment study and pilot program to develop an alternative to the current STAAR assessment --  Developed a framework for SBOE to narrow essential knowledge and skills foundation school curriculum so that districts are free to use their allotment for materials other than textbooks -- Students who have failed no more than 2 EOCs can receive their diploma if approved by individual graduation committee

At Purefoy:
